Saving Mexico! (¡Salvemos a México!)

The powers that be in Mexico are dominated by a self-serving sect controlled by a very primitive man lacking in any moral solvency, driven by resentments, convinced that he is enlightened, and is shared with a few leaders of organized crime -violent and white-collar-, the military and a pack of multicolored sycophants ready to submit to extortion given their criminal pasts.

If that was not bad enough, the sect is trying to perpetuate itself in power through a legislative maneuver that would allow them to be the ones to count the votes and decide who is the winner in any future election. Despite their proven ineptitude to govern and produce positive results, their ability to destroy institutions and systems fundamental to public service must be recognized.

In a country where the rule of law is non-existent, and the Constitution is run roughshod over -beginning with the cult’s leader- reforming it to legitimize the atrocity forever seems inevitable given the state of the opposition in congress. Not only are they in the minority, but the leader of one of the parties -what is left of it- has to choose between going to jail or forcing the vote of his minions in favor of the reform that exterminates the incipient democracy.

Thousands of concerned citizens want to stop this barbarity, so they are marching next Sunday to protest. Unlike traditional marches, this one is not called by any political party but by various civil society organizations that basically call to save Mexico! In fact, the opposition parties are joining this call ¡Salvemos a México! Seems like a good beginning of a long and complicated road.

If they succeed and the constitutional reform is not consummated, ¡Salvemos a México! can become a slogan, a war cry, or a strategy consisting of voting for any opposition candidate that has the highest chance of winning (useful, valuable vote), regardless of the political party that nominates, as long as is not Morena or one of its satellites.

And while waiting for the next election, besides spreading this idea, it would be convenient to look around for potential candidates with proper credentials and moral and political solvency and push for their nominations by any party, civic organization, collective, NGO, professional association, chamber, or institution, so elected public officials are no longer a reason to be ashamed of.

To save Mexico, first, it is essential to remove the barbarians. Once they are gone, the time to define, design, build, rebuild, and implement a new system for a prosperous and equitable Mexico will begin. Let us hope for the best.
