There was a time when the world was for real. Currently, it is not that in the age of Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, bullets kill less. Nor is it that viruses are delusional dreams of science fiction creators. Before, the world was a place where the physical proportions of power and the organization’s dependency under which the muscle of who obeyed and who commanded was represented were obvious.
Joe Biden is 78 years old, and he is president of the United States of America not by chance, but in the midst of a storm since you cannot succeed a president like Donald Trump and expect that one is a president without sequela. He is a man who started in politics in 1972. His biography has everything and is heartbreaking, I suppose that he also has his share of great mistakes and great pain. Speaking of the latter, Biden witnessed the death of his first family in a car accident, then – as a senior and vice president of the United States – he also suffered the loss of his eldest son due to brain cancer. Without a doubt, Biden has lived. Without any doubt, the current US president knows how each of the shortcuts that lead and give politics in what is called the swamp, and that is where he has lived the last almost 50 years of his life, between a small town of a tiny state called Wilmington located in Delaware, and Washington, DC.
The people who have been presidents and who distinguish me with their friendship have confessed to me that there is no better vitamin or better medicine or nothing that gives more stamina and youth than a new enzyme called “power.” That is why when I see young Joe Biden climb the long stairs of Air Force One, after the staggering first steps, I confirm that, indeed, my friends were right. Power takes years away, gives life, and puts you in an all-or-nothing position. However, no one has been able to verify that the revitalization given by the power vitamin also serves to proportionally increase the number of neurons in those who receive it.
Citizen Biden is going through what means not only the most important and final moment of his life – if only because of the laws of the logic of age – but also due to an important purification between everything he learned and believed and the circumstances under which it is his turn to govern. Inside and outside of his party, the circumstances are adverse. From the beginning of his long political career, Biden’s nature has been that of the pact. However, the current moment of his country and the world is one of confrontation. At this time, the pacts have little popularity and enthusiastic support, contrary to the boom that radicalizations have been acquiring.
Biden’s first international tour just took place last week. He has held meetings of great importance, and that will set the course to follow from this moment on. Biden went to tell what remains of the battered European Union that there is still a first world power called the United States, its leader and that it is willing to be its ally in defending a way of living under common sense. He went to NATO and did two things: vindicate the need for the existence of the North Atlantic Defense Treaty, but he also expanded it. He explained that the reasons and the need for a defense that led to the creation of NATO are equivalent to having to defend themselves today from countries like China.
On this tour, Biden also met with the G7 leaders in a picturesque place like Cornwall and under a picturesque situation created by the very picturesque Prime Minister Boris Johnson, recently married to Carrie Johnson, whose presence also marked the meeting. . In the end, the message is the same. There was a time when the problem was the communists. The communists are still the problem, only now they are not the ideologues; they are not the communists of hunger, of failure, nor are they the communists of the Stalin era. The current ones are the communists of success, work, technology, and, we must not forget it, there are also the Chinese communists.
Biden’s trip must be understood in two ways. The first is under the motto America is back. The second – in addition to trying to end the civil war that was brewing in the interior of his country and getting ordinary justice to give his predecessor Donald Trump an orange suit – is to explain that today’s enemy is the East and that if a common front is not created, the West will lose the battle. In this equation, in this that exists behind his journey, an element is missing that is the most important. The element that represents the meeting held in Geneva – a site that at the time was the headquarters of the League of Nations and is currently a very important headquarters of the United Nations Organization – where he met with Vladimir Putin.
Biden met with Putin after having called him a murderer and after learning that he was decisive in Donald Trump’s victory in the 2016 elections. Also, he held that meeting knowing that Putin is the leader of a country that failed to overcome the creation and the re-enactment of Sovietization. The great problem for Russia – which, territorially speaking, is the largest country in the world – is that demographically it is a small country, and economically it is a country that has not succeeded and goes from failure to failure. There is nothing to say about the Russian nuclear industry and its success. There is nothing to say about the Russian poisoning industry and its success. There is also not much to argue about, for example, Russian vaccines and their success. However, what is a fact is that Vladimir Putin is the great wayward element of the international order or, rather, of the new disorder.
The meeting between the two leaders in Geneva not only has the elements mentioned previously but also contains – as always happens with Vladimir Putin – many unknowns. Three and a half hours of conversation in which agreements were reached such as the return of the ambassadors or the exchange of prisoners. But, above all, one of the best results was that both leaders have finally understood that it is necessary to fight against cyberterrorism formally. Despite this being one of the strongest points – along with the Chinese or the Israelis – of both powers, both Putin and Biden have apparently agreed on the fact that it is necessary to bring order.
The best that can be inferred from the meeting is that the dialogue established is frontal and that, therefore, it can be direct, and can establish a point of agreement. The worst is the weak point in which both countries are at this time individually. On the one hand, the United States is looking to rebuild itself, and on the other, Putin is looking for a way to deal with the other player at the table who can turn everyone’s weaknesses to their advantage.
China distrusts Russia and Putin. However, at this time, the Russian president plays everything and for everything on the horse that dictates that Russia must be respected either by hook or by crook. Since, otherwise, it can either send you a poisoning in the form of tea, it can send you a cyberattack, or it can also create a problem that ends with the destruction of a country.
Today, borders have once again become a problem. For Russia for some reasons, for Europe for others, and China for hers. What is alarming is that, as has always happened before the outbreak of wars, the movement of the borders predetermines the degrees of humor in which political activity unfolds. This is one of those moments.
We have reached a point where, if the West is not united, it is impossible to win the war. The East – being aware of this – plays, flirts, and lets Putin caress and care for it. The Russian leader knows that he can only exist as the representation and incarnation of evil, in the sense that he is the president who every day fills with pride – from his grave – who was his true inspiration: Joseph Stalin.
As the paralytic Franklin Delano Roosevelt had in his day, young Biden has a unique challenge before him. This challenge is divided into three main areas. First, in overcoming and eliminating the differences and internal errors of his country. Second, unify the free world. And finally, creating a new economic balance like the one we never thought would exist where we have to negotiate, agree, and live is nothing less than with China. The India thing is pending for the next installment.
