The Apparition

True revolutionaries are consistent to the end. Because, in the end, neither data nor reality matters. What matters is the faith that moves mountains and is in their hands; that absolute certainty of knowing, better than anyone else, what is best for us, what will do us good, and what will put us, once and for all, on the path to redemption.

Today, Andrés Manuel López Obrador performed the first miracle of his last and most important act of revolution. A revolution that he led and, although we do not know precisely when it began, we do know where it all started: in Macuspana, Tabasco. He is not in Cuba, nor does he need to hide in the parking lot of the Ministry of the Interior to see the president. Although, in reality, whether this is true or not, we will never have any way of proving it.

The official story states that he arrived at his polling place at 9:51 a.m. and cast his vote. Not only did they mark his finger with indelible ink—the symbolic proof of a right in danger of extinction—but at that time, he was still, as he has been until now, the greatest asset of the Fourth Transformation. He’s a figure capable of mobilizing his supporters, reminding them that it doesn’t matter what they don’t understand or what doesn’t make sense to them, because that’s what he’s there for. To appear at the right moment. What happens next is of little importance. The essential thing is that what he prescribed as best for everyone… must be fulfilled, starting with him.

Everything else remains a gigantic challenge. Is it possible to appoint judges by popular vote? In the history of the world, not even the Roman Empire achieved this. But perhaps, after the miracle of the Mayan Train, the Dos Bocas refinery, and all the hallucinations embodied by President López Obrador—the soul, support, mobilizer, and living proof of the supreme truth—the revolution of the judges will not end like the other great flagship projects of the Fourth Transformation. This one will achieve the desired results, even if only for those who promoted it.

The big question—now that we know or have a close estimate of how many people voted—should not be answered lightly. The big question is, is there enough willingness to do things just because he says so? Without a doubt, in a world where words for war abound, it is deeply revealing what our president may be thinking at this point.

On May 28, while tariffs were being consolidated in the United States as a tax on the people who work to sustain what was once the greatest empire on earth—not only owner of Coca-Cola, the dollar, and the technological revolution, but also determined not to relinquish its supremacy under any circumstances—the new German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, made a statement that, in time, be remembered as a point of no return.

Merz announced that Germany was lifting all restrictions on the use of weapons supplied to Ukraine, allowing Kyiv to attack military targets on Russian territory. In his own words: “We will continue our military support and expand it so that Ukraine can continue to defend itself now and in the future against this Russian aggression.” According to him, this decision also reflects the feelings of England, the United States, and France, announcing that this is the beginning of “a new form of military and industrial cooperation” between the countries mentioned. In addition, he announced the end of the era of allowing Russia to use medium- and long-range missiles without penalty, disapproval, or intervention by Western allies.

Following this statement and the permission granted to Zelensky—another curious and, I fear, unfortunate character in modern history—to use European and US missiles against Russia, a carte blanche, an unlimited license, has been given to Russia to unleash not only offensives against Ukraine, but also, every time a missile from those countries hits its territory, Russia will technically be at war with Germany, France, England, or the United States. More than a statement, it is a demonstration of support and a direct challenge to Putin, who will have to choose his next moves carefully.

We have always known that where there is a war industry, war inevitably follows. And we have always known that the war industry requires substantial consumption. And the figures are staggering. Just over a year ago, on April 23, the US Senate approved a $95 billion economic aid package for Israel and Ukraine… plus whatever else may accumulate in two conflicts that show no apparent signs of coming to an end. Technically, it would take the merger of all Jewish talent in film, finance, crime, everywhere, to repay an investment of that magnitude. And on the Ukrainian side, needless to say, the surrender of part of the exploitation of rare earths is only part of the enormous debt acquired in exchange for weapons and protection.

In other words, whichever way you look at it, while we count the votes one by one in a one-party country and enter a phase from which we do not know when or how we will emerge, the world is closing ranks, taking up arms, and preparing for the scenario to come.

Anywhere, anytime, a missile could fall where it shouldn’t, and that could be the pretext that Putin’s Russia and its allies could use to take two more steps and have a general celebration. We always thought that 1945 was the end. We always knew that, in seven million years, the human condition is the thing that has changed the least. It was only a matter of time before history repeated itself. It is repeating itself, although the only significant change is that today there are methods of mass destruction capable of wiping us all out in the blink of an eye.

Meanwhile, we continue to count the votes, one by one. We must assume that those who went to vote made sure, at the very least, to check that their thumb was adequately covered in indelible ink after casting their vote, but above all, that they also ensured that the vote was monitored correctly and carried out under the respective legal conditions. Because, as Stalin said, “it doesn’t matter how you vote or who votes, or where or for whom. What matters is who counts the votes.” I say this because at this moment we know that there is no difference between the INE, the State, the government, and the party. In the end, they are the ones who will make all the difference.

From here on, what happens as a result of the vote is anyone’s guess. Although it is a guess that does not allow for much hope. I hope that, over time, it will become clear that this change was necessary and that the results will yield positive outcomes. However, in the short term, the outlook is for stormy skies, accompanied by lightning and thunder.

In the meantime, the country must get used to being governed and ruled by a single party. It is not surprising that, just as the Nazis placed the swastika on judges’ robes, sooner rather than later, the color of the uniforms will change and everything will be purple.
