EXPO2025 OSAKA, KANSAI, JAPAN １万人の第九 EXPO2025
On April 13, 2025, the opening of EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, featured a chorus of 10,000 people performing “Ode to Joy” (the fourth and final movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony) from the Yumeshima venue, broadcast to the world.
Under the direction of maestro Yutaka Sado, the Expo Ambassador, 10,000 people wearing Expo-colored ponchos, stationed in the Grand Ring and Water Plaza, sang the only “Ode to Joy”.
